All gates and railings listed throughout this website and our brochure are fabricated to suit STANDARD and NON-STANDARD opening sizes. Designs may vary according to opening size. When measuring please use a steel tape only and not a linen or plastic type. ORDERING GATES and STEEL POSTS It is important for us to know the exact measurement the gate(s) and posts have to fill, we make our own allowances for posts, hinges etc., within the total opening distance given Diagram EXAMPLES: A gate opening of 3ft (914mm) plus 2ins (50mm) square posts will require an opening of 3ft 4ins (1.16m) A gate opening of 10ft (3.05m) plus 3ins (80mm) square posts will require an opening of 10ft 6ins (3.20m) If a single gate and a pair of double gates are to be installed in a line, please enclose a drawing etc., viewed from the road. ORDERING GATES and FITTINGS Measure carfeully the total opening distance to be filled, we make allowances for hinges, catches etc., within these measurements. Fittings are either the plate type hinge that can be bolted to existing piers, wall and posts, or the hinges are designed to be built into the brickwork during construction. All hinge fittings are supplied free with the gate(s) ordered. Bolts not included. Diagram ADJUSTABLE HINGES All our double gates listed thoughout our main brochure are fitted with an adjustable hinge on each gate. Settlement of gates can easily be maintained with our tap and die solid bar and block adjusters, which are indiviually fabricated to suit the design, weight and size of the gate(s). Hinges have anti-theft holes. Pipes are welded bolt attached are not suitable for hinges. SINGLE and DOUBLE GATES Looking from the road:- Please state which side the latch is prefered LEFT or RIGHT. If not stated on the order form a right hand opening will be supplied. Diagram DISTANCE OF OPENINGS If the opening distance falls short of our standard sizes, please use the price quoted for the next size up and state actual size on the order form. i.e. 7ft 6ins (2.29m) would be made to measure and priced as an 8ft (2.44m) opening. WALL RAILINGS (made to measure) Fabricated to suit each style of gate. Standard heights 12ins (304mm), 15ins (381mm), 18ins (457mm), length(s) to suit opening sizes. If a new wall or piers are being built, the frame of the railing is extended in order to be built into the brickwork. If posts brick piers and walls are already erected then the railingis desgined to be bolted onto the posts, brick piers or on top of an existing wall. When ordering please state the exact measurement between posts and piers etc., also the total height of the railings required. Always allow a 2ins (50mm) clearance beneath the bottom rail i.e. 16ins (407mm) high railings plus a 2ins (50mm) clearance equals a total height of 18ins (457mm) plus any top scroll work. This would be priced as an 18ins (457mm) railing as listed in our price list. VICTORIAN - UNIVERSAL - PARK RAILINGS Fabricated to compliment any site areas such as boundary fencing, patio areas, terracing, balustrades and balconies. Standard heights 1ft 6ins (457mm) rising up to 4ft (1.22mm), length(s) to suit opening sizes. When ordering please statethe total height of the railings required, allowing a 2ins (50mm) clearance beneath the bottom rail i.e. 2ft 4ins (712mm) high railing plus clearance equals a total height of 2ft 6ins (762mm), plus any top decorative cast finials or scroll work. Balustrade and Balciny railings etc., will be fabricated in accordance with current planning requlations and to BS5135. When ordering - refer to the notes on gates and posts (or) gates and fittings. Wrought Iron railings for balustrades and balconies are fitted with a heavy duty gauge halfmoon convex handrail. Please supply a plan with measurements. STEEL POSTS 40mm x 40mm (1 1/2" x 1 1/2") Suitable for all types of Railings; Balustrades; Balcony railing etc., (fittings included) 50mm x 50mm (2" x 2") Suitable for gate(s) fabricated in standard gauge materials but not exceeding a total opening of 8ft (2.44mm), also suitable for all types of Railings; Balustrades; Balcony railing etc., (fittings included) 60mm x 60mm (2 1/2" x 2 1/2 ") Suitable for gate(s) fabricated in standard gauge materials but not exceeding a total opening of 9ft (2.74m), also suitable for all types of Railings, Balustrades etc., (fittings included) 80mm x 80mm (3" x 3") Suitable for gate(s) fabricated in standard and heavy duty gauge materials but not exceeding a total opening of 10ft (3.05m), also suitbale for all types of railings, balustrades etc., (fittings included) 100mm x 100m (4" x 4") Suitable for gate(s) fabricated in standard and heavy duty gauge materials but not exceeding a total opening of 11ft (3.35m), also suitable for railings etc., (fititngs included) If the total gate opening distace exceeds 11ft (3.35m) we would recommend either 120mm x 120mm (5" x 5") or 150mm x 150mm (6" x 6") posts. (fittings included) Solid forged spheres suitable for the above steel posts can be purchased from our stores. Steel gate post(s) are designed to be sunk into concrete 1ft 6ins (457mm) to 2ft (609mm) for secure fixing. Gate posts can be purchased as single items, when ordering one post, please state whether a latched or hinged post is required. Fixing bolts/screws can be purchased from our stores. BOLTS and SCREWS Rawlocks and Bolts for plate hinges can be purchased direct from our stores, please refer to price list under fixtures and fixings. BALUSTRADE and BALCONY RAILINGS Fabricated in accordancewith planning regulations. Suitable for interior and exterior fixing. Compliments and makes steps, ramps, balconies and patio areas safe. A detailed plan with measurements will be required for ramps including gradients. Where steps are involved please indicate the number of steps, tread widths and step riser heights. All balustrades can be supplied with a convex handrail at extra cost. SECURITY GRILLES Fabricated in standard and non-standard sizes. Designed to be an interior or exterior attraction to any door or window, but also serves as a useful deterrent. Please supply a plan with measurements indicating surface/face fixing or recess fixing including depth of recess. M.C. Products will advise the most suitable material specificationsto meet the needs of each project. We also fabricate security grilles for industrial and commercial premises including expanded metal and mesh grilles. MATERIALS Park railings are only available with 10mm (3/8"), 12mm (1/2") or 16mm (5/8") round bar vertical infil. Victorian gates and railings are available in either 12mm (1/2") or 16mm (5/8") round or square bar vertical infil. All other gates and railings listed in our main brochure are fabricated using either 10mm (3/8") or 12mm (1/2") square bar vertical infil. Estate railings are only available with 16mm (5/8") round bar and 25mm (1") x 6mm (1/4") flat bar horizontal infil. M.C. MEASUREMENTS All measurements listed throughout our brochure and website are a guide line between imperial and metric sizes: BS350 CARRIAGE WEIGHTS Carriage charges are competitive and are based on weight per kilo of any consignment. Orders are delivered by a national carrier, on a three day tariff.
